A GOOD PLACE TO START

A clear path
through your catalog.

Source options, what the checks mean and how to get a revised export.

Choose your Shopify source

From your account’s start section, choose a file or an available Shopify connection. The connection is limited to the approved development store. Initial access imports a product snapshot. In Sales & actions you can refresh products and review available sales. When monitoring is available, you can enable daily read-only checks. Additional report and product-edit permissions are requested separately in the Shopify connection page.

In Shopify, go to Products → Export and download a product CSV. Choose Shopify CSV in the workspace. Enter the shop’s origin, such as https://your-store.com, and confirm that the exported base prices are USD.

The shop origin helps construct product links. This CSV workflow does not connect to the store. A native export can omit feed availability and merchant identifiers; those missing details are shown as context, not invented errors.

Keep every row and column from the export. Options identify variants; additional image rows belong to their product. Prices from other markets are not used. Modern and supported older Shopify headers are accepted.

CSV and JSON without Shopify

Use comma-separated UTF-8 CSV with an id header, or a JSON array of objects with text values. Supported fields include title, description, link, image_link, price, availability, availability_date and gtin. variantId is optional. Keep identifiers and GTINs as text, including leading zeros.

Want to see the format first? Download a sample catalog: eight fictional products with typical problems. It is for reading and learning. A file you upload to your account uses your free check, so upload your own products there; the example needs no account.

Use prices such as 24.00 USD. Supported stock labels are in_stock, out_of_stock, preorder and backorder. Supply the true value from your source. Don’t copy a fictional example as product data.

What we check

FieldChecks you can inspect
IdentityMissing feed IDs, duplicates, case and whitespace collisions, supported length and characters.
TextRequired values, title/description lengths and surrounding whitespace.
Price & stockUSD price syntax, supported availability values and supplied availability dates.
Links & imagesURL syntax. Thumbnails are previews of supplied image URLs, not an image-quality audit.
GTINDigits, length, check digit and selected restricted prefixes. Assignment to this product is not verified.

The saved-catalog audit checks the values in your catalog. It does not visit product pages, verify actual stock or prices, connect to Merchant Center, or guarantee channel approval. Category-specific rules are not fully covered.

In your account, you can optionally check public product pages and image metadata for up to 20 products on FREE. The live check compares available page data with your catalog; it does not verify actual stock or guarantee prices. NOT_CHECKED means the check could not be completed, not that it passed. It does not verify GTIN assignment or visual image quality, or guarantee channel approval.

Up to 1,000 audited variants and 1 MiB of UTF-8 file content. CSV image rows are preserved but not counted as separate variants. Very detailed reports can require smaller product groups. XLSX, XML and feed URLs are not supported.

Review, correct, export

Select a product to see the actual source value and any findings. File-workspace suggestions change unambiguous formatting. The separate Sales & actions workspace can propose reusing existing Shopify search-listing text or linking a variant to an existing image of its product. Review the before and after values, then recheck the changes. You can also edit supported fields with facts you have verified yourself.

The revised export keeps your original columns, records, identifiers and unedited values. Shopify product-level text can be shared across variants; its explicit copies are updated together. The interface shows the affected cells. CSV quoting and JSON whitespace may change when the file is serialized.

Downloading does not update a store. Connection imports download as FeedGuard JSON, not a Shopify import file. If you uploaded a Shopify product CSV, review the revised CSV and any remaining findings before using Shopify’s import tools. A preserved custom column may not be accepted by Shopify. Existing spreadsheet formulas are retained as source data: FeedGuard does not run them.

Working directly with Shopify

Open Sales & actions from your account. Refresh to group variants with their products and read available sales. A missing Online Store URL is publishing context, not proof of a broken link. Sales require Shopify report permission and protected-data configuration; missing sales or historical costs are shown as unavailable.

Select up to five supported changes, open the preview and confirm the exact values. Product fields affect every variant of that product. Prices, inventory, orders and publication settings are outside these changes. Review each outcome in Recent activity, then refresh the report. If the result is uncertain, inspect Shopify; the action is never retried automatically.

Monitoring in Shopify Sales & actions is opt-in and separate from FeedGuard Care. It checks the connected store about every 24 hours, saves report observations and records failures in Recent activity. It sends no email and applies no changes. Reconnecting or disconnecting pauses it. You can turn it off in Sales & actions.

One free catalog, with room to finish

The free allowance is saved on the server and shared by file checks, Shopify imports and the first saved Sales & actions report. An existing import of the connected store also covers its Sales & actions report. One successfully saved catalog uses the allowance; validation failures do not. Refreshes of that same saved report are included. If an import response is interrupted, reopen your account to check for a saved catalog before trying again. Reloading the page, signing out or deleting a report does not renew it. Corrections, rechecks of the saved catalog and downloads are included.

Accounts use an email address and a password of at least 12 characters. Email verification and recovery are available when the account email sender is enabled; your account shows its current status. Confirm your email before using recovery by email, and save the private recovery key shown at registration as a backup.
