MERCHANT CENTER FIX GUIDES

Fix “Condition mismatch detected” in Google Merchant Center

Typical Merchant Center message: Condition mismatch detected: condition [condition]

Reviewed October 14, 2026 against Google’s published rules.

Google reports this when the condition value of a product does not match other information about the same product in your data. Google’s article says that offers could not be updated automatically because automatic item updates were turned off, and they were disapproved.

The three condition values

  1. new: never used and in unopened original packaging.
  2. used: second-hand, for example previously used, with opened packaging or without packaging.
  3. refurbished: professionally restored to working order so it looks new, with a warranty, and possibly not in the original packaging.

How to fix it

  1. Look at the examples in Google’s warning email and find what they have in common.
  2. Make the condition value agree with the title, description and page. A product described as used or refurbished should not be sent as new.
  3. Send the corrected data again: upload a file, use the Content API, or import from your ecommerce platform.
  4. Check that the issue no longer appears on the Diagnostics page.

Check your own catalog for these issues

FeedGuard flags condition values other than new, used and refurbished, but it cannot tell whether the value is true. That needs your knowledge of the product.
