MERCHANT CENTER FIX GUIDES

Fix “Duplicate product” in Google Merchant Center

Typical Merchant Center message: Duplicate product

Reviewed October 14, 2026 against Google’s published rules.

Google reports a duplicate product when several product offers were submitted with the same set of attributes and values, so the data contains duplicate offers. Google’s page subtitle says: submit more unique values for this product.

Attributes you may need to change or remove

Google lists these as the attributes to make offers unique: Description, Title, Age group, Capacity, Color, Condition, Count, Flavor, Format, Gender, Image link, Material, Multipack, Pattern, Product details, Scent, Size, Size type, Theme and Unit pricing measure.

How to fix it

  1. Open Products, then Needs attention, and filter for this issue.
  2. For each affected product, make sure it has its own set of attributes and values, or remove the duplicate offer.
  3. In Shopify, check for products that were created twice and for variants whose option values repeat.
  4. To fix many products at once, download the .csv list of affected products from the Needs attention tab, correct your product data and re-upload it.

Check your own catalog for these issues

FeedGuard flags item IDs that repeat in your file and variants that cannot be told apart, so duplicates can be reviewed before upload.
