MERCHANT CENTER FIX GUIDES

Fix “Low image quality [image_link]” in Google Merchant Center

Typical Merchant Center message: Low image quality [image_link]

Reviewed October 14, 2026 against Google’s published rules.

Google reports low image quality when one or more images of a product are poor, such as blurry, pixelated or low resolution. The product keeps showing in ads and free listings, but Google says high image quality correlates strongly with engagement and clicks.

Dates in Google’s article

Google states that all product images need to be at least 500 × 500 pixels, that you receive warnings from July 2026 on images larger than the minimum but smaller than 500 × 500, and that enforcement of the new requirements begins on January 31, 2027.

How to fix it

  1. Open Products, then Needs attention, and filter by the issue title Low image quality [image_link].
  2. Replace each affected image with a sharper, higher-resolution photo, using Edit product or your product data.
  3. In Shopify, upload the higher-quality photo under the product’s Media and make it the main image.
  4. To fix many products at once, download the .csv list of affected products from the Needs attention tab, correct the image links in your product data and re-upload it.

Check your own catalog for these issues

FeedGuard reads the real pixel size of the main image on each product page and flags images under its minimum size. Blur and pixelation need a look with your own eyes.
