MERCHANT CENTER FIX GUIDES

Fix “Missing product image” in Google Merchant Center

Typical Merchant Center message: Missing product image

Reviewed October 14, 2026 against Google’s published rules.

Every product needs a valid image URL. Google says products without one will not be approved, so the main image has to be present and reachable.

Causes Google lists

  1. The image link [image_link] is blank in the primary data source.
  2. The image URL is broken (it returns a 404 error) or Google cannot access it.
  3. A third-party ecommerce app, Shopify for example, has not synced recent image updates to Google.

How to fix it

  1. Open Products, then the Needs attention tab, and filter for this issue.
  2. Add a valid image URL to each affected product with Edit product, or in your own product data.
  3. Open each image address in a private browser window to check that it shows the picture.
  4. In Shopify, make sure the product has an image under Media, then check that your sales channel app has synced the update.
  5. To fix many products at once, download the .csv list of affected products from the Needs attention tab, correct the image links in your product data and re-upload it.
  6. Google says it can take 24–72 hours for a fix to leave the Needs attention list.

Check your own catalog for these issues

FeedGuard flags products with no image link in your file, and its live check opens the main image of each product page to show when it cannot be loaded.
