MERCHANT CENTER FIX GUIDES

Fix “Missing return and refund policy” in Google Merchant Center

Typical Merchant Center message: Missing return and refund policy on your online store

Reviewed October 14, 2026 against Google’s published rules.

Google reports this when your account is disapproved or pending disapproval because it found no clear return and refund policy on your website.

What Google asks for

  1. Make the policy easy to find, for example with a link in the footer of every page.
  2. Make it complete: state how you handle returns and refunds, with all requirements and timelines, such as the reason or return window.
  3. Keep it consistent: use the same policy everywhere, such as the footer, the returns page and any banner.

How to fix it

  1. If you do not accept returns or refunds, say so clearly on your website.
  2. In Shopify, add the policy text to your store policies and link it from the footer of your theme.
  3. After you make the change, Google reviews your site for compliance. Google says the changes may take some time to appear.
