MERCHANT CENTER FIX GUIDES

Fix “Check if your online store is fully functional” in Google Merchant Center

Typical Merchant Center message: Check if your online store is fully functional

Reviewed October 14, 2026 against Google’s published rules.

Google shows this message for Shopping ads and local inventory ads with a merchant-hosted local storefront. It asks you to check that your store is complete and working.

What Google checks

  1. Business information: contact details and policy pages, including an About page, a return policy, shipping information and business info.
  2. Placeholder content: leftover “Lorem Ipsum” text or default template images, which Google says can prevent verification as a trusted business.
  3. Broken links: links that lead to 404 errors or redirect to the home page instead of the intended page. Social media links should be linked correctly, too.

How to fix it

  1. Add the missing information and pages.
  2. Remove placeholder text and default template images.
  3. Fix broken or misdirected links, and check your social media links.
  4. Request a review in Merchant Center. Google says crawls usually finish within 24 to 48 hours, and that there may be a limit on how many reviews you can request.

Check your own catalog for these issues
