Fix “Additional or promotional info” in Google Merchant Center
Typical Merchant Center message: Additional or promotional info
Reviewed October 14, 2026 against Google’s published rules.
Google reports this when one or more attributes contain promotional text or text that is not relevant to that attribute. Google’s example is a green couch whose title or description mentions price guarantees, money-back guarantees or free shipping.
What Google flags
Promotional text, such as price or money-back guarantees and free shipping, and any text that is not relevant to the attribute it sits in. Titles and descriptions should describe the product itself.
How to fix it
- Open Products, then Needs attention, and filter for this issue.
- Remove the promotional text from each affected attribute so it holds only facts about the product.
- Make sure each offer has its own unique set of attribute values.
- Use sale_price and Merchant Center promotions for offers, not the title.
- To fix many products at once, download the .csv list of affected products from the Needs attention tab, correct your product data and re-upload it.
- Google says it can take 24–72 hours for a fix to leave the Needs attention list.
