MERCHANT CENTER FIX GUIDES

Fix “Invalid value [title]” in Google Merchant Center

Typical Merchant Center message: Invalid value [title]

Reviewed October 14, 2026 against Google’s published rules.

Google reports an invalid value for the title when the title you submitted does not meet its requirements. Google asks for titles that are accurate and concise.

What Google asks for

  1. Keep the title accurate and concise.
  2. Avoid promotional text, all capital letters and gimmicks.
  3. For variants such as different colors, include the specific color or distinguishing feature in the title.

How to fix it

  1. Open Products, then Needs attention, and filter for this issue.
  2. Rewrite each affected title so it describes the product plainly: brand, product type and key details such as color, size or material.
  3. Remove words such as “sale”, “free shipping” or “best price”, extra symbols and shouting in capitals.
  4. To fix many products at once, download the .csv list of affected products from the Needs attention tab, correct your product data and re-upload it.
  5. Google says it can take 24–72 hours for a fix to leave the Needs attention list.

Check your own catalog for these issues

FeedGuard flags promotional wording, shouting in capitals and titles that are too short or too long, and suggests brand-and-variant titles built only from values in your own data.
